About World Radio Switzerland and the WRS Breakfast Show
World Radio Switzerland (WRS) is Switzerland's English-language broadcaster with 175'000 listeners. It is an essential source of news, entertainment, and information for both the local and international community. Our mission is to help integrate the international community into Swiss life through news, publicising events, interviews, local music, competitions and more.
The live Breakfast Show airs Monday to Friday 06:30 - 10:00 and 40% of our audience tune in during these times. It is our flagship show and a key pillar of WRS output. After presenting the show together for 10+ years, current hosts Mark and Katt will step back in 2026.
WRS is therefore seeking an experienced, English-speaking radio presenter to host this flagship show. The presenter must deliver a compelling, high-energy morning programme tailored to the international community in Switzerland, reflecting WRS’s brand values and commitment to integration, inclusivity, and reliable local information as well as have a deep understanding of international and expat life in Switzerland. WRS has a wide age-range of listeners and, for this reason, the presenter should appeal to both young and old.
Key Responsibilities
- Host WRS’ flagship morning show; The Breakfast Show, Monday-Friday 06:30-10:00.
- Prepare and structure show content, including topics, features, interviews, local information and entertainment.
- Host live and voicetracked programme segments, as required.
- Operate studio equipment and playout software independently (no dedicated producer).
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager, programming and sales teams to ascertain and deliver key sponsorship messages, whilst maintaining WRS tone and quality output.
- Organise and schedule your own interviews and studio guests; manage related communication with clients, event organisers, artists and regional personalities alike.
- Represent WRS at community events, partner activities, and promotional engagements.
- Contribute to social media and digital platforms with relevant content that supports the show and station identity.
- Maintain the station’s credibility as a source of reliable information for the international community in Switzerland; providing relevant and accurate content that demonstrates connectedness and community with the listenership. Credibility in the Swiss context is essential.
Qualifications / Experience Required
- 5+ years of live, on-air presenting in English, ideally within a breakfast or personality driven show at a professional level.
- A proven track record in the radio industry.
- Native-level English speaker with strong pacing, clarity, and vocal presentation.
- Strong operational fluency with Myriad and/or Zetta playout systems (or similar) for both live and voicetracking.
- Experience living or working in Switzerland, understanding Swiss culture and institutions.
- Strong understanding of the international/expat community in Switzerland.
- Warm, engaging, relatable on-air personality suited to expat listeners.
- Excellent ad-libbing skills; calm under pressure during live situations.
- Solid editorial judgement and an understanding of what makes compelling radio.
- Ability to foster audience connection via calls, texts, emails, and online platforms.
- Comfortable conducting interviews and representing WRS at events.
- Familiarity with social media and the creation of supporting digital content.
- Organised and self-starting; able to organise own interviews and content for both your own show and others.
- Knowledge of French and French pronunciation.
Success Criteria
- Delivers a compelling, well-structured morning show that grows listener engagement.
- Demonstrates consistent professionalism, preparedness, and reliability.
- Strengthens WRS’s reputation within the international community.
- Proactively contributes creative ideas to features, content, and station-wide initiatives.
- Plays a key role in connecting expats to Swiss life through accessible, inclusive, and high-quality broadcasting.
