100 plate to will set new record

Our desire for unique car licence plates shows no sign of abating – and a new record is likely to be set.

Canton Zurich is auctioning the lowest number available to the public – ZH 100.

It was put up for auction with the starting price of CHF 4,000. But within minutes that was up to CHF 100,000.

Zurich only auctions off three-digit numbers. Previously the lowest offered was ZH 499 – that went for CHF 52,000.

But someone paid nearly CHF 200,000 for ZH 888 in 2022.

The auction for the one hundred plate runs until the 9th November.
