16 communes complain about new timetable

Sixteen communes in French speaking Switzerland have joined forces to complain about the new train timetable which is due to come into force in 2025.

The new schedule was released on Friday and it shows that passengers wishing to travel to Geneva or the airport from towns in the Jura Arc will have to change at Renens.

Currently trains run directly.

Locals say they feel left out and say there are 300,000 people who live in towns such as Biel, Yverdon and Delémont.

Geneva is also fighting for better train connections from those areas.

The State Councillor, Serge Dal Busco met with the Federal Councillor Albert Rösti. He says the federal politician listened to their concerns.
