After the voters’ rejection of the autoroute expansion, the Federal Councillor Albert Rösti is proposing the government come up with a comprehensive transport plan for the next 20 years.
He’s given a mandate to professor Ulrich Weidmann at ETH Zurich – who’s a transport expert – to submit a report by the end of the year.
It’s certain one focus will be the route between Geneva and Lausanne, which is already overloaded and it’s expected to get busier.
It even mentions services in neighbouring France, such as renovating the disused line that runs at the foot of the Jura between Divonne and Bellegarde.
The plan, called Transport ’45, will be unveiled at the end of the year.
