Two Geneva political parties are launching a petition in an effort to help small businesses that are affected by roadworks.
The utility company, the SIG, has already issued a warning that the city will be blighted by works over the next few years as new heating pipes are installed.
The parties, Green Liberals and the Centre, say the works can have a negative impact on ground floor businesses as the flow of passing pedestrians is cut.
The SIG, and other companies, pay a rent to the city for the use of the underground land. It’s suggested that that fund should be used for compensation.
