Geneva airport was forced to close for several hours yesterday afternoon after a private jet veered off the runway on landing and ended up on the grass verge.
The airport pointed out the verge was particularly wet due to the rain which made retrieving the plane very difficult.
The airport had to close at 6.30 pm and didn’t reopen until 9.45.
That led to 33 flights being cancelled, 10 more significantly delayed and many incoming flights had to be diverted.
