Alleged Russian interference in Swiss election

Russia is trying to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections, according to a report from the Federal Intelligence Service.

The main worry is a video released on X – formerly known as Twitter – which the intelligence service believes was influenced by Russia. 

The report has been seen by the NZZ newspaper – but the Federal Intelligence Service is neither confirming or denying it. 

Left-wing politicians, such as Solothurn MP, Franziska Roth, believes the aim is to make the population feel insecure – a move likely to benefit the Swiss People’s Party. 

But a spokesman for the right-wing party described it as ‘ridiculous rantings’ when asked by the RTS.
