Commuters in canton Thurgau reacted with surprise after an alpaca took a train.
The animal was on a lead, with two people, when it was led through the station at Amriswil.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Swiss Federal Railways says there are no specific rules relating to alpacas – but does say only dogs and small domestic animals can be transported – providing they don’t soil the train or upset other animals or people.
But there isn’t a definitive size of animal.
One ticket inspector, who was shown the video, says he’d never seen an alpaca before – but it has been known for cows to be taken on trains.
