The number of scientific experiments on animals is falling in Switzerland – but the animals can be more stressed.
Figures from the Federal Veterinary Office show animal experiments have been falling since 2015, in all down 18%.
But the number of tests, classed as level three, has risen. These tests mean the animal is described as highly stressed.
Some recent experiments have been Covid related. 1,328 animals were used in 18 different trials. Some of tests related to vaccine development.
