Art Basel opens

Art Basel 2026 (c) Basel Tourist Office

Art Basel has opened, with 290 galleries from across the world arriving in the Rhine city.

The flagship fair of the global Art Basel network runs until Sunday and has expanded over the years to include Unlimited for monumental works, a Parcours of art installations across the city, and this year Zero 10, a presentation of digital works by twenty artists.

Just one gallery from French speaking parts - Geneva's Skopia - is taking part as Art Basel grows ever more exclusive.

Several fringe events have sprung up around the Messeplatz in response. The main fair runs until 21 June.
