There are hopes weather forecasts in Switzerland will become more accurate, especially in the mountainous areas.
MétéoSwiss says a new model divides the country into a series of triangles which measure the atmosphere in several layers.
The country’s supercomputers – in Lausanne and Lugano – then calculate the weather in the coming days based on the new model.
Forecasters say the new system is designed to work with the complex landscape of the country.
