Better transparency is the best tool to bring down the price of fuel at filling stations. That’s the view of Switzerland’s price watchdog head – Stefan Meierhans, often known as "Mr. Price".
He believes many retailers are taking advantage of the situation and charging unjustified margins on fuel.
He’d like to see a system that’s been brought in in Austria. Every filling station in the country has to submit their current prices to a website – so motorists have the information needed to shop around.
Meierhans says many suppliers will be forced to lower their prices.
