The government says it’s prepared to spend billions on the rail network and is highlighting several major improvements.
The transport minister, Albert Rösti, says building a train tunnel between Rolle and Morges will make it easier to put in a third line in that particularly densely populated area.
Some of the money will be used to expand and renovate Geneva station.
Elsewhere in the country, the plans include improving the Lötschberg Base Tunnel, expanding the important interchange at Olten and more for local services.
