Bone chilling temps across the country

Switzerland has been hit by another polar night, with temperatures plunging across the country.

La Brévine in canton Neuchatel recorded a chilling -26.3 early Sunday, while other Alpine locations also faced extreme cold, including -23.7 in Buffalora and -20.3 in Samedan, both in canton Graubünden.

Even lower-lying towns were affected, with readings of -14.5 in Marsens in Fribourg, -13.1 in Langnau, and -11.2 in Thun – both in Bern.

Just ten days ago, Delémont in canton Jura saw a November record high of 23.5, but early Sunday it dropped to -9.1. 

The cold snap is now expected to ease, with lowland temperatures reaching between zero and 4, and only around 6 in Ticino.
