Brienz residents back home

Residents in Breinz in canton Graubünden will be waking up this morning in their own beds – for the first time in several weeks.

The village had to be evacuated as there were fears a large rockfall could flatten some buildings.

A recent large rockslide mean geologists think the main risk has now been averted.

However, an Orange alert remains in place, which means residents still have to be ready to leave if required.

But they can go home for now.

At the height of the alert, no one was allowed to enter - even emergency services - and livestock had to be moved as well.
