A fire broke out in a private garden next to the train tracks in Creux-de-Genthod after a power cable snapped.
At midday yesterday, passengers on the platform say they heard an explosion and saw a cable strike a hedge, which then caught fire.
Geneva fire-fighters tackled the blaze from the street while a specialised extinguishing train did the same from the tracks.
The cause of the fire was that a part of the trapeze holding the cables in place, broke.
The fire disrupted services for about an hour yesterday afternoon.
