Swiss business leaders are warning of major fallout from new US tariffs.
Washington is imposing 39% customs duties on most Swiss exports, a move expected to put 100,000 jobs at risk - mainly in watchmaking, machinery, metals and food.
The business federation, Economiesuisse, says the impact could be even greater, as suppliers and service providers will also suffer.
While pharmaceuticals, which is Switzerland’s top export, are exempt for now, President Trump has threatened tariffs of up to 250% if drug prices don’t fall.
Economiesuisse is urging Swiss politicians to ease regulatory burdens and improve conditions at home to counter the US measures.
