A Swiss political group is seeking tighter rules on mosque construction, reigniting a long-running national debate.
The Egerkingen Committee, which led the successful 2009 Swiss minaret referendum, now wants municipalities to have veto power over new mosque projects.
Its director says Switzerland needs neither minarets nor large, visible mosques, and is calling for greater transparency, including disclosure of foreign funding.
The proposals could be taken to federal parliament, where similar measures have been debated before but no decisions have been made.
