A group of rail and transport enthusiasts in Geneva and France are calling for the reestablishment of a train service running from Geneva to Nice.
There used to be trains running to the Mediterranean until the late eighties, but the French rail company, the SNCF, closed a 15 km section of line in Provence in 1989, which ended the service.
When the line was open, you could travel to Geneva to the coast in 7 hours – without changing.
Now the same trip takes twice as long with several changes.
Campaigners say reopening the line would create a more environmental way to travel than the plane.
They also point out, many local mayors along the route in France are backing the move.
