The local Swiss People’s Party in Plan-les-Ouates in Geneva is demanding the closure of an asylum seeker centre.
It was opened in March and only has 10 people at the moment, although that could reach 60.
The right-wing party is also demanding increased security around the centre.
The mayor, Fabienne Monbaron, says she belives this is simple electioneering by the party and says there have been no reports of any issues.
But the local Swiss People’s Party leader, Jean-Christophe Delfim, says he listened to residents’ concerns and reports of problems at other centres around the country.
