Virtually all cantons have rejected a plan by the federal government to offer financial incentives to get vaccinated.
The idea is to send out vaccine advocates to persuade the reluctant to get a jab. The most successful will be given cash.
It’s being suggested a rate of 50 francs per person newly vaccinated.
The idea has united the cantons – almost all oppose it.
Thurgau calls is a mockery, Sankt Gallen says it’s unreasonable, Zurich says the incentives are wrong, and Neuchatel thinks it's unethical.
The cantons also say they don’t need additional mobile vaccination units. Bern is offering 170 of them.
The cantons say vaccination centres have the spare capacity – they just need the people.
