Car crash driver in psychiatric care

The driver who smashed his car into a Geneva market last week has been remanded in custody for three months and is undergoing psychiatric care.

The car was said to be driving at very high speed along the Boulevard Helvétique when it lost control and entered the market, seriously injuring one market worker who is now recovering in hospital with serious leg wounds. 

The victim says he hopes to leave hospital later this week – although in a cast.

He says he forgives the driver and sent a letter of thanks to a policewoman who bound his leg with a tourniquet after the crash. He says she saved his leg.
