A Swiss study shows young children are still able to read the mood of those around them, despite wearing masks.
Researchers from the University Hospital in Lausanne say there’s very little difference in emotion recognition with or without a mask.
The study involving nearly 300 kids aged between three and six is designed to answer the question if masks affect the emotional development of children.
They were shown a series of pictures of people with or without masks displaying various emotional states.
Results show thy were able to accurately detect emotion 71% of the time without a mask and 67% with one.
