Chocolate lovers beware – hefty price rises are coming.
Chocolate products are likely to see a price rise of between 8 and 27%, according to the Zurich based confectionary maker Honold.
But it’s not alone, other producers are telling the Blick newspaper we should be prepared for chocolate price shock.
The reason is the price of cocoa.
In 18 months, the price has quadrupled. In June 2023 a tonne of cocoa cost CHF 3,000 – now it’s close to CHF 10,000.
The reason is a series of poor harvests in the main growing areas in West Africa.
