The latest numbers from the Federal Health Office shows covid infections are continuing to climb.
There were 37,000 new infections over the last week – a rise of 4% on the previous week. Hospital admissions are up 37%. 9% of the country’s intensive care beds are taken up with covid patients.
21 people have died.
The government says it's hospital capacity which is the main measurement it will use before deciding to take further measures. On average across the country, it’s currently at 74%. But canton Solothurn is at 100% - although neighbouring Fribourg is at 58%. It’s at 78% in Geneva and 83% in Vaud.
Many doctors are calling for compulsory mask wearing to be brought back in public spaces.
