The cull of deer in the Versoix woods has ended. Geneva wildlife officials say 25 animals were shot between December and January.
Canton Geneva banned hunting 50 years ago and the deer population has exploded. Experts say they’re a threat to farmers and the environment.
Animal rights groups called for alternative methods, such as contraception, but that was rejected as being too inefficient.
The cull may be renewed at the end of the year after talks with wildlife official with canton Vaud and France.
