Canton Geneva has given the go ahead to a re-development of the main train station, Cornavin.
The first stage will get rid of cars around the station and creating a large pedestrian area.
It will be part of major change to the area with the building of an underground extension.
Planners expect the train station to be handling 100,000 passengers everyday by 2030.
Work won’t start until 2024 – work on the underground extension will start in 2026.
So, the area will be a building site for several years.
