E-scooters are booming. They’re seen as practical and green - but also, they’re dangerous.
The health insurer SUVA says there’s been a 20 fold increase in accidents in a very short time. It says it expects a total of 3,500 accidents this year.
It points out the scooters are very unstable, especially in poor weather and many riders corner too steeply.
The advice is not to ride in pairs, wear a helmet, make sure you can be seen and don’t use headphones.
