Email threats from Switzerland

Over the last few days French airports have been plagued with a series of false bomb threats - but almost all the emails came from the same email address based in Switzerland.

The French Transport Minister, Clément Beaune, says there were around 70 fake threats since the middle of last week.

The threats didn’t just affect airports, Le Château de Versailles, had be evacuated 7 times in 9 days.

The minister says as the email came from outside the EU, it’s beyond the reach of EU legal powers, but he’s urging tech platforms to help with the investigations.

The country is on a high alert since the killing of a teacher in Arras in Northern France by a Russian national claiming he was inspired by Islamic State.
