A group of campaigners gathered outside the HQ of the commodities trading company Cargill in Geneva yesterday.
They’re urging support for an upcoming vote which would compel companies to operate sustainably.
The federal initiative calls on businesses to be forced to respect the limits of the planet regarding natural resources and its ability to renew.
The initiative refers to ‘planetary boundaries’ and uses nine examples that threaten life on earth, such as climate change, species extinction, water use and air pollution.
Detractors say the text of the initiative is too restrictive and will lead to a massive rise in prices.
Voters will decide on the 9th February.
