Negotiations are about to begin over a major housing dispute in Geneva after 107 households and several businesses on Boulevard Carl-Vogt received eviction notices linked to planned renovations.
The landlord, the Basel City Cantonal Pension Fund, says the five buildings must be fully vacated for extensive works, a decision that has sparked strong criticism amid the canton’s housing shortage.
A mediation meeting will bring together the landlord, tenant representatives, property managers, and cantonal authorities, who are expected to act as intermediaries.
Tenants are calling for rehousing during the works and the right to return afterwards.
