Health experts are once again recommending masks this autumn, more than three years after the end of the pandemic.
With early signs pointing to a strong flu and Covid season, specialists from ETH Zurich and the University of Basel say masks remain especially useful indoors and on public transport, particularly for older or vulnerable people.
While they reject any return to strict pandemic-style restrictions, they urge a more informed public approach, including easier access to data on virus circulation.
Coronavirus cases are rising, while flu and colds remain low for now, but are expected to surge later in the season.
