Geneva firefighters battled a blaze to stop it from spreading to a school in Eaux-Vives yesterday afternoon.
The fire started in an old carpentry shop behind the school. 50 children had to be evacuated.
Emergency crews had to work in a narrow section between the shop and the school – which was undamaged and no one was hurt.
It took six vehicles and 25 people to bring the blaze under control. The Rue des Eaux-Vives was closed for around 2 hours from 5.30 yesterday afternoon.
