A young volunteer firefighter has been sentenced to jail and given a hefty fine for deliberately starting a series of fires around his home in Vevey in canton Vaud.
The court heard the man was often on the team called to fight the fire and on at least one occasion, was the person to call in the fire.
The fires were set between 2021 and 2022.
The man admitted the charges and will have to spend 6 months in jail with a further 30months suspended. The president of the court warned him that one more offence – he’ll serve the full sentence.
He will also have to pay a fine of CHF 120,000
