The fishing season opened in most of the French speaking areas over the weekend.
A celebratory drink was organised by the Pont de la Coulouvrenière by the Geneva Cantonal Fishing Commission.
The canton is also working to improve fish migration which is sometimes hindered by the hydroelectric dams and forming new habitats for fish and other wildlife.
In Geneva the fishing season runs until the end of September – a bit longer in some areas of the Rhone and the Aarve.
Although the fishing season is open – it’s not a free for all. You will need a licence.
