A weather prediction for Switzerland from the United States is giving hope there will be enough energy this winter to keep the lights on and our homes warm.
Although it may not be such good news for ski resorts.
While all long-range weather forecasts need to be treated cautiously, the National Centers for Environmental Protection correctly predicted the long dry summer in the spring. Now it’s suggesting this winter will be mild.
Warmer temperatures mean we will need less power. 20% of all energy consumption in the country over the winter is for heating.
We also need rain – many reservoirs are too low. The US forecasters are predicting above average rain between October and December.
