A springtime rescue in the woods near Verbois has a happy, and wild, ending.
Back in May, two hikers found three tiny kittens and brought them to the Geneva animal protection service.
But these were no ordinary cats. The fluffy trio turned out to be European wildcats, a protected species. Wildcat kittens are virtually identical to domestic cats.
Carers raised carefully with minimal human contact and taught to hunt.
The two males and one female were released back into the forest in September.
Experts say they’re now thriving — right where they belong.
