For many of us heading to the Haute-Savoie ski resorts, the familiar stop at the A40 toll booths will soon be a thing of the past.
A new electronic toll system has just been installed in Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny, with more to follow along the Autoroute Blanche from Annemasse to Mont Blanc by June 2027.
Drivers will pay without stopping, as automatic gantries scan license plates and process digital payments.
According to the A40 operator, this “free-flow” system will cut traffic jams, reduce pollution, and make journeys to the mountains much smoother.
