Geneva Airport returned to profit last year after the losses incurred during the pandemic.
There are now more routes available today than before covid – 146 compared to 139.
Long-haul routes are also back to full strength after Air China returned in February.
At the end of last year, the airport posted a profit of CHF 46.3m. In 2021 it made a loss of nearly CHF 90m.
But the number of passengers has not quite reached pre-pandemic levels. 14m passed through last year – in 2019 that figure was 18m.
The CEO, André Schneider, says the airport’s strong recovery must be carefully managed and the investment plan will continue to be followed.
The three most popular destinations are London, Paris and Porto. The airport says the Portuguese market is growing strongly.
The biggest airline by far is easyJet, with nearly 50% of the market share. By comparison, the flag carrier Swiss is second with 11.5%.
