Geneva is banning all fires in forests and near woodland as the risk of wildfires rises.
With extreme heat and ongoing drought, authorities have raised the danger level to four out of five — considered high risk.
The ban covers barbecues, even in designated areas with fixed fire pits, and applies to protected sites including the Allondon and Aire valleys.
Officials warn that a single spark or discarded cigarette can trigger a blaze and urge people to call 118 immediately if they see a fire.
