Questions are being raised about the baseball caps the City of Geneva recently purchased to protect children against the sun during last week's school parades.
The caps were handed out to kids who didn’t have one in the blazing sun.
The city bought 3,000 from a company based in La Chaux-de-Fonds – but they were made in China from recycled plastic bottles.
Some say it should have been a local manufacturer due to the carbon footprint caused by the transport.
The caps cost CHF 3 – so the total cost was CHF 9,000. Only half were used this year, the rest will be kept for next year.
