The City of Geneva has made further moves to cut waste created by the fast-food industry.
It had already banned single use plastic – but from next month table wear will have to be reusable.
All events in public spaces will have to follow the new rules.
Any event that has already been given permission will be exempt for this year. There are also some exceptions for practical reasons. Food trucks will not have to comply, but they will have to show how they are limiting waste.
Many events have already adopted reusable tablewear – such as the Fête de la Musique and the Christmas Market.
The city says this has already cut waste significantly.
