Geneva minister says tests should not be free

The Geneva state councillor for health, Mauro Poggia, says Covid tests should no longer be free as he believes they’re giving the population a false sense of security.

Infections are rising in the canton and now it’s the highest in the country, on a par with the rates in the second half of last year.

Poggia says free tests must stop as he believes that would persuade more young people to get vaccinated.

It is a complete U-turn by the minister – only in May he was calling for free tests to be available.
