Geneva police investigating a series of parcel bombs in the city, seemingly targeting the watch maker Patek Philippe, have made an arrest.
Federal prosecutors say the man is a 61-year-old Swiss citizen, a photographer and a martial arts expert.
The man was arrested yesterday morning near the airport. A martial arts club in Eaux-Vives was also searched as well as the suspect’s car, which was parked nearby. It’s reported the man taught kung-fu at the club.
The Tribune de Genève spoke to witnesses who added the man worked as a photographer and was sometimes accredited by the United Nations.
He’s travelled to war and disaster zones, such as Syria and Chernobyl and has taken pictures of events at the Palais des Nations.
Over the last few months, parcel bombs have exploded in Plan-les-Ouates, Saint-Jean and the banking district. Some people have been injured, including a 12-year-old girl.
Investigations are ongoing.
