It’s practically two years to the day that the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Geneva, and now the health department is looking to close the remaining vaccination centres.
There are around 500 new infections a day in Geneva at the moment – that's compared with over 2,000 at the height of the pandemic.
Some have already closed - the others will wind down their operations during March.
But the cantonal health director, Adrien Bron, says many facilities will remain available to reopen quickly if required at the end of the summer. He says they’ll be prepared if there´s a new variant and a new vaccine.
The Geneva University Hospital is now doing routine surgeries again and the private clinics that had been taking patients on behalf of the hospital to handle overflows will now be released.
