The City of Geneva’s snow removal teams are on full standby from today until the end of March.
Some snow is expected on the plain over the weekend – but the move is not due to any specific alert right now.
The commune says it has around 100 people and forty vehicles ready to react 24 hours a day if needed.
Some gritting trucks are now equipped with a thermal probe to check if gritting is actually necessary.
The system is designed to save salt and limit the environmental impact.
