Geneva will be turning down the heating in public buildings this winter in an effort to make energy savings.
The canton says it will follow the measures it had last year which brought bills down 15% from previous years.
Temperatures will be limited to 20 degrees – although old age care homes and hospitals will be exempt.
Other measures include stopping hot water in non-residential buildings and switching off exterior lights overnight.
