The City of Geneva has been ripping itself off by undercharging for advertising.
That’s the verdict of the Court of Auditors.
The familiar trapezoid advertising panels lining the streets bring in just CHF 135,000 for the city. It’s thought if they were properly priced – the income could be as much as CHF 2.8m.
But there are some limits. The city prioritizes cultural events – which may not have a particularly high budget.
Auditors say the city charges the same whether it’s an event or a luxury brand. It recommends it makes a distinction in the future.
