A Geneva initiative to halve the cost of car tax has collected enough signatures and will go to a vote.
It was launched by the Swiss People’s Party and the Geneva Citizens Movement.
The right-wing parties say it has become so difficult to use a car in the city, it’s right to cut the tax.
They blame the reduction in road space due to new cycle lanes and fewer parking places. Campaigners point to the fact that Geneva has one of then highest vehicle taxes in the country.
It’s likely the vote won’t be held until 2023.
