Swiss Federal Railways says assaults on train staff remain a daily reality - and it seems the government is ready to step in.

Since the pandemic, train workers face around ten verbal or physical attacks every day.

Between late January and late February alone, the Office of the Attorney General issued 17 penal orders for violence, threats or insults.

Swiss Federal Railways say attacks are becoming more severe, with a rise particularly in French-speaking Switzerland.

Unions say body cameras and two member crews help staff feel safe. They’re also demanding more transport police officers.

The issue is being discussed by the Federal Council.
